Can flat pdfs be compared?

A flat pdf or read-only pdf is a document that has been rendered uneditable.

Flat PDFs are easy to spot in TVT

1. The text is not marked in orange before the comparison. In the following picture you can see that in the copy the text is not marked in orange as it is in the original.

2. The word count in the document is "0" or not matching the expected word count

In these files, forms, images, and text fields are fixed. This is beneficial for print, however when a pdf is flattened the Unicode information behind the characters is removed.

For instance, if you try to select, copy and paste the text from a flat file to Notepad, it will not work, as the text now is a picture. If you are working with a text only file, please request your graphic designer for a non-flat pdf.
