Indication of colors and it's meaning

Selection

Selected text is highlighted in green. A selected image is framed in green.

A word can be selected by right-clicking on it or using the Select Mode (please see chapter Select Mode Button). An image can be selected (framed in green) by activating the Image Mode and clicking on it.

Mapped Text

Text with no background color after comparison has been matched to its counterpart in the other document.

When a mapped word is selected in one document, the corresponding word in the other document gets selected.

Important: There are other reasons for text with no background color, e.g. the text may be vectorized or in a bitmap. In those cases, it is not possible to highlight it and the text is not included in the comparison.

Unmatched Text / Unlinked Image

Text is only found in one document and cannot be mapped; an image that does not have a counterpart.

Unmapped Text /
Linked Image

Text that could not be unequivocally matched is left unmapped. Two images that are linked to one another as an Image Pair, are also highlighted in yellow.

The text can be mapped using Manual Map. (please see chapter Manual Map).

Warning

Text that is similar and has been mapped, but the characters are not identical. Warnings are raised to alert and can be handled collectively under the Warning Settings.

For further information on warnings, please see chapter Types of Deviations and the Warnings.

Hyphenation or
Critical Word

This color is shared by Hyphenations and Critical Words.

Hyphenation: A word has been hyphenated in one of the documents, but is not hyphenated or hyphenated differently in the other document. Hyphenations can be toggled by selecting the button in the status bar.

Critical Word: Text that has been fully or partially recognized as a word from a predefined Critical Word List. Critical Words can be toggled by clicking on the button in the status bar. If no Critical Word List has been activated prior to comparison, the CRIT button does not appear in the status bar.

Style Deviation

A marked style transition between original and copy.

A marked style transition between original and copy. A style transition can be either manually, or automatically marked for correction by using the Automated Style Check. Note that the Style Check is considered performed after confirming it with OK at the bottom left of the Style Transitions list.

Style Check or Spell Check not possible

This color is shared by Style Check and Spell Check.

Style Check not possible: Style Check could not be performed for words highlighted in this color. Usually, this is the case for words that are within a deviation. Therefore, this color highlighting is only visible, when the STL button is solely activated; or when it is activated in combination with the buttons ROC/HYP/CRIT/IMG.

Spell Check not possible: Spell Check could not be performed for characters highlighted in this color, e.g. numbers or punctuation marks; as well as on unmapped text. The highlighting is only visible, when the ABC button in the status bar is activated.

Illegal Character Set

Words marked by this color contain at least one character code that cannot be a valid representation of its displayed glyph (its visual appearance).

Accepted Deviation / Image

All excluded/accepted areas, including accepted deviations and images, are highlighted in blue, meaning that they do not require any correction.

Marked Deviation / Image

Deviating text/images highlighted in this color, are marked as incorrect by the user and may require correction.

Spelling

Words that have been detected by the Spell Check are displayed with red wavy underlines when the ABC button is activated.
