How to use the spelling function

Run a Spell Check on your files with the additional Spell Check Module in TVT

Please Note that the additional Spell Check Module is needed to run a spellcheck on your files

The Spell Check does not take place during comparison and initially, there aren’t any detected Spelling Items. After comparison, the ABC button is displayed in the status bar.

1.) You can run the Spell Check by:

  • Selecting "Check Spelling" under "Check" in the Wizard Toolbar

  • Clicking on the ABC button in the status bar.

2.) TVT Spelling asks you to select the language for the Spell Check. You can choose and save a default language by ticking the check box "Save as default and don’t ask again".

The Custom Dictionary allows you to enter specific terms that are expected in your text and shouldn’t be detected as Spelling Items. You can edit the dictionary directly or import an already created dictionary. You can also export the entries of the dictionary to share it with other users.

Medical Dictionary

The Stedman's® Medical Dictionary is the Medical Pharmaceutical Spellchecker provided by Wolters Kluwer Health. It can be acquired together with TVT Spelling and will be then activated for use by default.

3.) You can change the language after performed Spell Check by clicking on the ‘Change dictionary’ button at the right bottom corner of the Spelling Details Area. TVT Spelling will then re-run the Spell Check based on the new language choice.

4.) Once the Spell Check has been performed, the detected Spelling items will be shown in the Deviation List in the Project Window.

5.) You can process the Spelling items by selecting a Spelling entry in the Deviation List. The Spelling Suggestions will then be shown in the Spelling Details Area to the right.

6.) From here, for each Spelling item, you can:

  • Accept
  • Accept all (if any identical Spelling items)
  • Add (Accept and add to Custom Dictionary)
  • Mark (with suggestion)
  • Mark all (with suggestion)

If none of the Spelling Suggestions applies, you can type in the correct way of spelling and press Enter or click on the Mark button. Your entry will then appear in the Comment field of the marked Spelling item.
